Torben Grael


Torben Grael was born in Sao Paulo, Brazil and raised in Niteroi. Middle child of three boys, Torben showed talent in his early childhood and the desire to share the passion of sailing like his mother's family, the Schmidts from Denmark, and his grandfather Preben, a sailing pioneer in Brazil.

Torben Grael nasceu em São Paulo e se criou em Niterói. Filho do meio de uma trinca de irmãos, logo cedo demonstrou talento e vontade de seguir a saga da família materna, os Schmidt, oriundos da Dinamarca, cujo patriarca Preben foi um dos pioneiros da vela brasileira.

A "Golden" Year!

In 1996 Torben won his first Olympic gold medal, at the Atlanta Olympics in the Star Class. Em 1996 Torben conquistou sua primeira medalha olimpica de ouro na Olimpiada de Atlanta na classe Star.
